Discover the dream house and the organ the vase and salt, on the banks of the Garonne!
Nestled in the heart of the waste recovery plant, along the towpath, this magnificent building built at the beginning of the 19th century in a vineyard has housed the Maison rêvée since October 2023. This third-place, open to the public and managed by the Planète B association, aims to create, manage and animate a collaborative hub aimed at promoting zero waste and circular economy practices. On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the dream house is associated with Bettina Samson, designer of the monumental work «La Vase et le Sel», located along the towpath leading to the port. This sculpture is actually a steam organ, inspired by the organs used on the boats of the great American rivers, and is fed by the adjacent waste recovery plant, VALBOM. Its 38 whistles produce both notes and steam, and aim to revive the memory of the links between Bordeaux and Haiti, a history mixing colonization, slavery and transatlantic trade. The organ is activated at 3:08 pm, a reference to the start date of the Haitian revolution, August 15, 1791. New pieces of music, composed on site by percussionist Xavier Roumagnac, will be played during these Heritage Days.
