The cathedral of Reims, masterpiece of Gothic art and cradle of the coronation of the kings of France, is one of the very first monuments listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It welcomes one million visitors each year.
Masterpiece of Gothic art built from 1211, it was damaged during the First World War. The cathedral features an architectural feat of the 20th century: a reinforced concrete framework, developed by the architect Henri Deneux, as well as a set of contemporary stained glass designed by Marc Chagall (1974) and Imi Knoebel (2011).
Some important figures about this religious building:
* The towers of the cathedral of Reims count 249 steps
* They rise to 83 meters high
* The floor of the kings is 40 meters high
* The angel of the bell tower is perched at 87 meters high
* Of the 2302 statues, 58 king statues make up the facade
* The frame, whose volume is 2000 cubic meters, weighs 1600 tons
