Built in 1889, the Pautrier railway rotunda was primarily used for the maintenance, storage and swivel of steam locomotives.
It is one of the largest rotundas of the "PLM" type and is one of the few to have preserved its original metal frame and other remarkable elements to discover.
Disused for years, it was renovated in the utmost respect of the original provisions and reopened in March 2020 to become one of the TER’s flagships in the Southern Region.
It now hosts new TER trains at the head of the Marseille Saint Charles train station and thus returns to its original function.
During the visits, the guides will tell you the history of the site of yesterday and today throughout the route and explanations will be provided on how the actors of the site act in favor of the environment and sustainable development.
3 locomotives will be exhibited at the roundhouse by the APCC 6570 association :
- 2 BB 25660 locomotives
- 1 CC 6500 locomotive

The Pautrier rotunda, built in 1889, was primarily used for the maintenance, storage and swivel of steam locomotives. Totally renovated and refurbished between 2017 and 2020, it reopens its doors in March 2020 to become one of the flagship of the TER in PACA.
