About the location

LE LAVOIR
Lambesc

Typical Provençal village. Seigneurie, then Principauté under Louis XIV, he was then given the nickname of "Versaille aixois". The wash houses did not really appear until the eighteenth century, previously women washed at home, in some public fountains or possibly at the edge of a stream. The Lambesc wash-house dates from 1759, a solid stone building from the Lambesc quarries, which were greatly appreciated by the masters of the 19th and 20th centuries. The arches support a flat stone roof that houses four double basins fed by water from the Bonne Fontaine. Listed as a Historical Monument.
