A richly decorated sanctuary
The interior of the peribolus walls and the exterior of the eastern wall were decorated with painted decoration consisting of large panels of different colours. Near the main entrance, several fragments of painted coatings on which birds are depicted were discovered. The temple floor and cella walls are covered with marble veneers from the Pyrenees. The cella and portico columns are surmounted by tuffeau capitals of Corinthian order.
The persistence of an indigenous cult
Several fragments of the cult statue were found, including the head, on display at the museum. They make it possible to identify a sitting goddess, to bring together figurines in white earth also discovered near the sanctuary and representing a mother goddess of Gaulish origin who breastfeeds two children installed on her lap.
A busy place
Fibules (pins used to hold clothes), rings, ex-votos (objects deposited in exchange for a wish), statuettes in white earth, found in excavations are evidence of the use of the place by the faithful and give indications on the practice of the deposit of offerings.
