There was a fortified building since the fifteenth century as evidenced by the watchtower with a staircase serving the floors of the current dwelling, rebuilt in the middle of the eighteenth century by René André de La Fournerie, Seigneur de la Ferrière et de Chain, descended from the ironworkers who had acquired the seigneury in 1610\. The interior was completely redecorated at the beginning of the 19th century. On each side of the building, two buildings aligned a chapel and an extended stable of a bakery
