The traditional bookbinding workshop of Anduze will present the profession of bookbinder and restorer of old books, paper and/ or leather documents. The workshop gives a second life to old books and sometimes even recent books thanks to traditional tools that have also had several lives.
On this occasion, you will be presented different styles and techniques of binding and restoration, including the paper restoration of a 1583 Compoix and its new medieval style binding.

L'Atelier de Reliure is located on the pretty Place Notre Dame in the oldest centre of the village of Anduze. Created in 2009 by Mr Gonzalez, bookbinder since 1984, the workshop is now directed by Ms Gamba. A beautiful story of transmission. We propose you to discover a traditional binding workshop that gives a second life to books or archives, thanks in particular to tools and machines that have also had several lives. We will also present a medieval-style binding of La Canso, a copy of this 13th-century text, made by Michel Redal, a calligrapher and Mr Gonzalez, a bookbinder.
