This water distribution basin, discovered in 1844, is the arrival point of the ancient aqueduct that transported water from the Eure fountain near Uzès to Nîmes via the Pont du Gard.

This hydraulic structure was brought to light in 1844\. She(It) established(constituted) the end of the aqueduct which transported the water since the source(spring) of Eure, near(about) Uzès, via the pont du Gard, to Nîmes. From this catchment basin, the water supply of the Roman city was assured(insured).
