In the company of a (e) mediator (rice), participants go hiking in the heart of the Chalosse to the archaeological site by the path of the Caves. Arrived at the caves, an outside visit of this exceptional site will be made, before turning back towards the village.
Important practical information:

  • Good physical condition required.
  • Provide clothing and hiking shoes.
  • Remember to bring a bottle of water.
  • Not accessible to people with reduced mobility and strollers.
  • Pets prohibited. The visit will be cancelled in case of orange weather alert.

The archaeological site of the Cave of the Pope was discovered in 1880\. Between 1892 and 1897, Édouard Piette discovers to it nine statuettes of which the "Lady in the hood", the most old(former) representation of human face. The site also freed(delivered) numerous tools in flint, engraved bones and fineries.
