Guided tour in a paper mill
At the Rouzique mill, the guide traces with you the whole history of the place and the stages of paper making through the different rooms by setting in motion different mechanisms of the mill dating from the sixteenth century (models, paddle wheel, round machine, etc.). In your turn, come and operate the paddle wheel and discover a know-how by making your own sheet of paper!
The mission of the mill team is above all to make you discover the gestures related to the manufacture of handmade paper through visits, demonstrations and workshops. At the end of your visit, observe a rich collection of watermarks, some of which date from the 16th century.
This mill continues the tradition of paper made of hemp fiber, linen and cotton since the 16th century. Couze and Saint-Front sheltered in the late nineteenth century up to 13 paper mills on only a few kilometers of the river called Couze.
For the European Heritage Days, take advantage of the presence of the paper company to present its work and the paper workshop with inclusion or «gelli print».
