Guided tours of the Convent of the Annunciade by agents of the regional direction of cultural affairs (per group of 15 people maximum) and free visits of the cloister and the chapel.
Under the authority of the regional prefect, the Direction régionale des affaires culturelles (DRAC) Nouvelle-Aquitaine is responsible for implementing, adapted to the regional context, the priorities defined by the Ministry of Culture. Its missions are: knowledge, conservation and enhancement of heritage, support for cultural industries, support for creation and its dissemination to the public in all artistic fields: architecture, digital arts, visual arts, street arts, circus, cinema, dance, design, literature, music, theatre.
The DRAC ensures the application of the Heritage Code and the regulatory texts on heritage and architecture: archaeology, archives, French language and languages of France, historical monuments, museums, intangible heritage. The DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine, in partnership with cultural stakeholders, local authorities and other ministries, promotes access to culture and heritage for all.
The DRAC is located on 3 sites, in Bordeaux, Limoges and Poitiers and 12 departmental units of architecture and heritage, in Charente, Charente-Maritime, Corrèze, Creuse, Dordogne, Gironde, Landes, Lot-et-Garonne, Deux-Sèvres, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Vienne and Haute-Vienne.

Of the convent of Annonciade in the XVIth century to the Regional Cultural Affairs Directorate: secrets of a place steeped in history.
Having located street Magendie in the centre of Bordeaux, he(it) occupies a prestigious place by his(its) history(story) and his(its) architecture and is listed(classified) in conformance with(for) historic monuments today.
In the XVIth century, the foundation of the convent of Annonciade begins(primes) with the construction, in a Renaissance style, its main remarkable elements.
During the three centuries, the building becomes soaked with life of the nuns, with prayers and with singings(songs). Transformed into factory with saltpetre in Revolution, he(it) undergoes a long profanation, until 1808.
Acquired(Bought back) and transformed into House of Mercy, he welcomes residents of many there until 1970s.
In 1995, DRAC settles down following a project there of restoration(catering) and of arrangement(development) which knew how to respect the character of the place by alloying it with a contemporary architecture, in particular by including the 1% for arts.
Given the historic wealth of the site and of the activity(occupation) of the district a said archaeological excavation of rescue was beforehand programmed in 1991.
But this resurrection after years of sleep does not establish(constitute) the only attraction of the old(former) convent. A multitude of memories and of anecdotes populate this unforgettable place.
