About the location

Église de Fousserie
La Fousserie, 47170 Lannes
  • Lot-et-Garonne

According to Ch. Bastard, the church of Fousserie was founded in 1213 in the parish of Trignan, under the name of Saint Côme and Saint Damien, at the request of Hugues de Fousserie, following an injury received at the battle of Muret. However, the parish of Saint-Pierre de Fousarias was mentioned in 1259, and did not take the name of Saint-Côme and Saint-Damien until the 17th century, according to Durengues. The nave and choir, as well as the portal, were built in the 13th century. The bell tower was built during a second campaign and has a trilobed bay from the late 13th century or perhaps the 14th century. The capitals of the interior columns date from a renovation of the late 15th or early 16th century. The bell chamber was added late, perhaps in the middle of the 18th century, work being mentioned in the bell tower between 1757 and 1765.
