In the Basque Country, equestrian sports and Basque pelota in its various specialties have aroused the enthusiasm of society. Races and ball games were events where this good society had to be seen, symbols of a modern and elegant world.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Côte et Pays basque based part of their tourist interest on the variety and quality of the attractions they offer. Sport has a prominent place in the festivities and the press is the relay.
