The Château des Chauvaux was built at the end of the 16th century on the remains of a ruins of a fortified house. In 1887-88 there was a major renovation. Two octagonal towers and a mansard roof were added to the existing building. It is assumed that all ceilings and beams were coated and that marble fireplaces were placed in the Napoleon III style that prevailed at the time. Remains of a much larger fireplace were found in the dining room.
