Guided tour of the exhibition: Femmes Vie Liberté Farzaneh Tafghodi invites Karl-Sébastien Bigot and Florian Georgin
• Guided tours of the exhibition “Women Life Liberty; Farzaneh Tafghodi invites Karl-Sébastien Bigot and Florian Georgin” Art and “living heritage” Painting, drawing, ceramics and architecture
ALCA is delighted to welcome Farzaneh Tafghodi, from September 10 to October 29, 2023, for his first exhibition in Normandy. Born in 1959 in Tehran, she has lived and worked in Paris for over 20 years.
At the crossroads of reality and dream, her work, nourished by her two cultures – Persian and French – combines a sense of tragedy and a desire to live.
• The exhibition is organized around its large figures in watercolour. Through this fluid technique, the artist transposes the dreamlike nature of these “characters”—typical characters—that come out of her memory or imagination to dance in the light, on paper and on canvas. Farzaneh is sensitive to the dramatic news in Iran in recent months; inspired by the tradition of her native country, she combines secular allegories and current instant, so that the contrast between the delicacy of his painting and the violence of reality produces a plastic and poetic work of singular evocative power.
• The paintings by Farzaneh Tafghodi are accompanied by pottery by Karl-Sébastien Bigot and Florian Georgin, two Norman artists, whose visitors to Atelier d'A have already been able to appreciate the work on several occasions. These filigree pieces are a modest tribute to Iran’s ceramic tradition. They punctuate the exhibition, as stops where the gaze rests on simple objects (bowls, dishes, pots, etc.), which manifest the union of useful and pleasant. Forms, colors and motifs, both decorative and symbolic, reflect a certain art of living in echo to the works of Farzaneh.
• Magazine and art book sales During these afternoons, ALCAtelier d'A offers thematic books, biographies and magazines at bargain prices (Beaux Arts Magazine, Art Press, Le Journal des Arts, Artension, etc.)
