Founded by Abbé Grégoire in 1794, the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (Paris III) is intended to be the place where all the tools are gathered, machines, drawings and books useful for the development of the technique and for the improvement of the national industry. Today, the Conservatoire is a scientific, cultural and professional public institution of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. As such, the Museum of Arts and Crafts, a service of the Conservatory, has the task of collecting, preserving and disseminating the works constituting the scientific and technical heritage. The Museum of Arts and Crafts is located in two places, the museum in Paris and the museum reserves in Saint-Denis.
