This exploration of the largest site of the National Library of France plunges children into the heart of the history and architecture of this building designed by the architect Dominique Perrault and built between 1989 and 1995. The visit allows, in a privileged way, to explore the backstage of the library, to understand its operation and to access the Belvedere, top floor of one of the 4 «book towers» to admire a magnificent panoramic view of Paris and the Seine.

The building designed by architect Dominique Perrault, whose project was chosen by the President of the Republic on August 21, 1989, is organized around a pedestal and four corner towers, high of 79 meters. These houses seven floors of office space protected by movable wood shutters and eleven storeys (395 linear kilometres of books). Two levels of reading rooms surround a garden of more than one hectare located below.
