About the location

Société sportive du Jeu de Paume et de Racquets
74 ter rue Lauriston 75016 Paris
  • Paris
  • Île-de-France
Edifice built in 1908, made of cut stones, which at that time included two palm courts intended to replace the two Jeux de Paume des Tuileries from which the players of the time had been expelled to transform the building into a gallery of painting. In 1927, one of the two palm courts on Rue Lauriston was transformed into squash courts, the first to be built in France. The Jeu de Paume on rue Lauriston is thus the last game of paume that remains in Paris which counted nearly 250 in the fifteenth century. It is one of the four palm games still existing in France: Jeux de paume de Bordeaux, du château de Fontainebleau et de Pau. It is certainly one of the most prestigious sports buildings in the capital and an important monument of the French sports heritage.
