The City Hall of Rambouillet is the former royal bailiwick built at the request of Louis XVI between 1785 and 1787\. It was linked to prisons that were later destroyed. On the main facade, the primary function of the building is recalled by a bas-relief depicting Themis, an ancient allegory of justice. The ground floor, mezzanine and attics were leased to the City for use as grain closures. The Municipality occupied the premises from the revolutionary period, but it was only in 1809 that the Emperor Napoleon I donated the building to the rambolitains.
