In the second half of the 19th century, horticulture was predominant in Bourg-la-Reine, which, of the 178 hectares of its total area, had more than half devoted to the cultivation of flowers (44 hectares) and arboriculture (48 hectares). The greenhouses of Armand Millet, specialist of the violet or those of the rosierists Jacques Margottin and Ferdinand Jamin have largely contributed to the international recognition of this emblematic activity.
Inherited from this tradition, the municipal greenhouses of the City host the plantations intended to beautify the city: 700 m² divided into a greenhouse (15°) for the protection and conservation of plants and seedlings, and three annual and biennial plant production tunnels. Guided by the enthusiasts who are in charge, you will discover the variety of plantations and cultivated species.
