In the footsteps of the "Sovereign of the Precious" Madeleine de Scudéry (1607-1701), discovery of these "precious women of letters"— Antoinette Deshoulières (1638-1694) , Marie-Catherine de Villedieu (1640-1683) , Madeleine de Sablé (1599-1678) , Marie-Jeanne Lhéritier (1664-1734), poets, writers, playwrights, novelists. Apart from the precious salons, their audacity of thought and expression sparked controversy.
