Exhibition "Générations Sapey-Triomphe"
Sapey-Triomphe Generations
A family of artists in Méréville
With the works of Joseph Sapey-Triomphe, Clara, Tamaya and Zako Sapey-Triomphe
This exhibition highlights the work of Joseph Sapey-Triomphe (1897-1956), sculptor and architect from Lyon, with Art Deco aspirations. The artist is linked to Méréville because he sets up his studio there following the destruction in 1943 of the one he owned in the heart of the Montparnasse district. He left his mark on the city by designing the communal swimming pool.
Joseph Sapey-Triomphe created a veritable dynasty of artists. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren followed in the footsteps of their grandfather. Throughout the exhibition, his descendants honour the memory of their ancestor through various artistic expressions: digital installation and concert by Fred and Edouard, his grandchildren; photographs and graphic creations by Tamaya, Clara and Zako, his great-great-grandparentsgrandchildren.
