The former Royal Abbey of Saint-Denis in France, completely rebuilt in the 18th century, has been home since 1809 to one of the educational houses of the Legion of Honour, a boarding school for young girls founded by Napoleon I and attached to the order’s Chancellery. To discover: the courtyard of honour and the abbey buildings, splendours of the architecture of the eighteenth century, the square of the cloister and its monumental stairs, its garden, the chapel and the refectory.

The former royal abbey of Saint-Denis in France, completely rebuilt in the 18th century, houses since 1809 one of the educational houses of the Legion of Honour, boarding school of young girls founded by Napoleon I and attached to the great chancellery of the order. As a public institution, it now houses 500 high school students, preparatory classes and BTS - girls, granddaughters and great-granddaughters of decorated Legion of Honour, Military Medal and National Order of Merit. The abbey buildings now stand on the site of the abbey built in the Middle Ages and which they have almost entirely replaced. The works, begun in 1700 and continued throughout the eighteenth century, followed the drawings of Robert de Cotte, then First Architect of the King. The north gallery and infirmary were completed only after 1765, as well as the building containing the hotel and the king’s apartment. During the Revolution, the abbey was transformed into a hospital. In 1809, she was assigned by Napoleon I
