Jean Cocteau invented for her the expression "sacred monster", Victor Hugo spoke of his "golden voice": Sarah Bernhardt is considered the first true "star" in the world. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of his death on March 26, 1923, art historian Pierre-André Hélène looks back on his career as a tragedian and his flamboyant temperament.
