The episcopal city of Meaux, corresponds to the old ecclesiastical district of the city in the Middle Ages and under the old regime. Its main monuments are the cathedral of Saint-Etienne, the old episcopal palace (present-day Bossuet museum), the old garden of the bishopric, the building of the Old Chapter. In the north, the Episcopal City adjoins the old rampart of the city that dates back to the Gallo-Roman era.
