The fort of Montbré is a part of the belt Séré of Rivers of 12 forts which protected the city of Reims. Building work begins on the October 1st, 1877 and end in October, 1879\. He(It) was in charge of defending(forbidding) the road and the railway from Epernay and of watching the plain between the city of Reims and the massif of the Mountain of Reims. Contrary to the fort of Pompelle which is only located in 5,6 km from there, the fort of Montbré will not be puck on by the German artillery and is therefore very well kept(preserved). The fort was planned(provided for) to be armed(equipped) with 13 rooms(parts,plays) of rampart, 4 mortar and 10 rooms(parts,plays) for the flanking of ditches(gaps).
