The name of the manor house of Mazeraie derives from the Latin "maceria" meaning "wall in ruins", which led to the hypothesis that there once existed in this place a Gallo-Roman villa. the discovery of a grain-based measure with four-cell trunnions reinforces this hypothesis. An act of September 24, 1788 tells us that the main elements remain since only the upper part of the manor was added in the nineteenth century to replace a gallery. A beautiful Renaissance fireplace was also recovered following the demolition of the Rothière manor and returned to the billiard room. Lintel and cornices are entirely painted and a painting representing "Diane in the bath surprised by Actéon" is present on the hood. It is dated 1623 with a prudent motto: "more think than say".
