Major and unique(only) historic site of "First World War". In war statement(declaration) in August, 1914, military strengths of active were above all used. It was draftees of the classes 1911 - 1913 who were under flags and those of classes from 1906 till 1911\. For the set(group), these future soldiers had received a military instruction during their set of two or three years. The 113th R I with a staff(size) from Blois of 3400, had lost on September 22nd, 1914, 4500 men(people). It was fast necessary to appeal to the more old(former) classes and "to adapt" them to the "novelty" of trenches. From the beginning of October, the departmental commissions(committees) of inventory also saw again(also revised) all exempting and began the advanced recruitment of the younger classes 1914 and 1915 which had no knowledge in the soldiering. The needs for training(formation) were therefore bound(connected) to the more intensive use of machine guns and of course to the holding(dress) of the trenches which became the standard of the forehead(front) in the fourth quarter 1914\. In the environment of barracks, grounds of laborers(operations) were therefore established(constituted) in this effect. The very wooded periphery(outskirts) of Blois, has this patrimonial "luck("chance) « to have kept(preserved) in the state an equipment of this type, protégé by trees of the state-owned forest which were only 60 years old at the end of war. He(It) seems (subject to a future discovery) that he(it) is unique(only) in France, having left war in the state by the end and relatively well-preserved. This set(group) about 10 hectares, develops more than 3 000 metres of trenches of instruction planning all textbook cases. Of the first degree: the individual hole of the combatant, up to the characteristic trenches for rooms(parts, plays) of machine guns or «of artillery of trench».
