7 rue du Moulin à Chambon, 41190 Valencisse
- Loir-et-Cher
- Centre-Val de Loire
Called Moulin de Chambon or Prieuré, this factory is certainly one of the oldest in the Cisse Valley. Indeed it depended on the manse attributed to the abbey of Marmoutier on December 13, 832 by the emperor Louis the Pious and his wife Judith. Associated until the end of the eighteenth century with the Moulin Fouleret, it was in turn wheat mill, tan then chocolate factory. From 1872, it became the first cocoa bean crushing and chocolate manufacturing plant of the Poulain chocolate factory, which then established its main plant on Blois around 1880\. It became a wheat mill again from 1920 to stop its grindstones definitively around 1960.
