The fifth edition of the Botaniques de Chaumont-sur-Loire, an event dedicated to the sale of plant collections, botanicals and horticultural, but also an opportunity for thematic meetings around plants and the garden, will take place over the weekendend of 16 and 17 September 2023 in the Allée des Ormeaux at the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire.
Natural gateway between the plant and the garden, between the horticultural heritage and the landscape creation, this original Plant Festival will allow you to find the flagship plants of the International Garden Festival on the stands of exhibitors.
Botanical requirement and varietal diversity will be at the rendezvous thanks to the partnership established between the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire and the association of nursery growers Plants and Cultures.
Les Botaniques de Chaumont-sur-Loire are an opportunity to find the plant collections offered for sale by real producers gathered around the transmission of know-how.

In order to enhance and reward the know-how of nurseries producers, artists and artisans working in the field of gardens, a prize, available in two versions, entitled “Le Coup de Cœur des Botaniques” will be awarded on Saturday 16 September at 2.30 pm and will reward:

'Côté Jardin': a plant, for its botanical or horticultural originality, aesthetic quality and vigour
“Côté Cour”: a stand for the quality of its presentation and information for the public.
The jury is made up of representatives of the world of plants.

The fortress of Chaumont sur Loire was built at about the year 1000 to watch border between the counties of Blois and of Anjou. In 1465, Louis XI makes burn and shave the castle which will be rebuilt a few years later. Property of the family of Amboise for 500 years, it is Charles II d' Amboise who inaugurates his(her) transformation in castle of enjoyment(approval) in the Renaissance style. The sculpted decoration(set) becomes more important and the major element of the external facades.
In 1550, Catherine de Médicis acquires the domain, but does not throw(launch) big(great) construction sites(works) on the castle, from which she parts in 1560, to the advantage of Diana de Poitiers. The old(former) favorite of the king implements works which confer on her her current physiognomy, with especially, the completion of the paths round the battlements of the châtelet of entrance(entry) and of the tower St Nicholas' Day.
In 1750, Jacques-Donatien Leray orders the destruction of the wing the North and opens so an unique(only) point of view on the Loire. He welcomes the Italian sculptor Jean-Baptiste Nini. The castle presents the most beautiful collection to the world of medallions "unique(" only) rooms "(parts",plays ") of this famous sculptor today.
In 1875, Marie-Charlotte-Constance Say buys the castle and gets married to the prince Henri-Amédée of Broglie. She decorates rooms(parts,plays) with the furniture Renaissance and supervises numerous works to return the house deserving of the biggest(greatest) receptions. It is the architect Paul-Ernest Sanson who will be charging up of this construction site(work). The latter(This last) also conceives(designs) the luxurious stables. Finally, the architect Marcel Boille proceeds to the edification of the firm model of the Domain.
Given up(Sold) to the State in 1938 by the Princess d' Orléans and Bourbon, the Domain of Chaumont-sur-Loire is the property of the Centre region since 2007 and Public Cultural Cooperation Establishment since January, 2008.

Acceso
Chaumont-sur-Loire is located between Blois and Tours(Ballots,Towers), in 185 km in Paris. Highway A10 and A85, taken(brought) out Blois or Amboise. Numerous through trains every day on the line Paris Austerlitz – Orléans – Tours(Towers), stop(ruling) in Onzain (the Domain is in 15 minutes on foot of the station of Onzain).
