Le site géologique et archéologique des Grouais de Chicheray
Mairie de Pezou, Route de la Vallée-du-Loir, 41100 Pezou
- Loir-et-Cher
- Centre-Val de Loire
The site of the former Grouais quarry, listed as a historic monument, has left traces of the passage of men in the Loir valley of Vendôme 400,000 years ago. Above all, it has preserved the land deposited during one of the last glaciations, among the most severe in our local climate history. From the site of the Grouais, the reading of the landscape, the slopes and the bottom of the valley, as we currently see them in Pezou and Saint-Firmin, allows to understand the long climatic and geological history of the Loir vendômois and to discover how, over time, the landscape has formed, how it has evolved, and how, as a result of current climate change, it could change again.
