From the Pithiviers station to the old camp: in the footsteps of the first internees
During a visit of an hour and a half, follow in the footsteps of the first internees following the so-called «greenback» raid of May 14, 1941. The journey begins in the Musée de la Gare with a projection of unpublished archival documents, presenting the arrest of nearly 3,700 Jews. Accompanied by a museum mediator, the tour will take you to the former site of the Pithiviers camp, of which only the infirmary building remains. The visit will focus on the internment conditions of the Jews. A stop will be made at the memorial and stelae of the six railway convoys leaving Pithiviers. After the roundup and internment, the visit will conclude on the quay that was used for the deportation of Jewish internees during the Second World War. A visit between history and memory.
