Settled in Amboise in the 15th century, the Chappuys family then dispersed to Rouen, Lyon, Tours and Paris, in the main political and intellectual centers where it was a privileged witness in the entourage of the powerful. Claude, poet and bookseller of François I, and Gabriel, prolixe translator of the end of the sixteenth century, are the striking figures. Until now Héliot, sommelier of the dolphin’s butler in 1472, Jehan, prosecutor in Amboise, and a cousin, Gabrielle, were only mentioned. Damien Millet, Senior Chair Professor in Preparatory Classes at the Lycée Janson-de-Sharily (Paris), former student of the Ecole normale supérieure de Cachan, will present the chronicle of this family and the rigorous study that emerges from it. The conference will be followed by the presentation of the book «Les Chappuys d'Amboise», published this year by Anaïs Thiérus and Damien Millet.
