Lecture on «Notre-Dame-du-Bout-des-Ponts Church» by Marc Sanson
Notre-Dame du Bout des Ponts, in Amboise, on the north bank of the Loire, is a small but endearing faubourg church dedicated to the early sixteenth century. The 500th anniversary (in 2021) of its consecration was an opportunity to focus on its construction and the main events that have marked its history. The church has undergone several modifications and especially restorations over the centuries because of its proximity to the Loire, with formidable floods. Its surroundings (bridges, dikes, roads) have been significantly modified. The interior presents several points of interest, from the 16th to the 20th century: vault, carved keystones, stained glass windows, high altar, pulpit, bench of work, statues, paintings.
Archivist-paleographer, graduate of the Ecole des Chartes, the IEP of Paris and the ENA, Honorary State Councillor, Marc Sanson has just published a reference book on the church Notre-Dame-du-Bout-des-Ponts.
The conference will be followed by the presentation and dedication of Marc Sanson’s book.
