Guided tours of the castle of Saint-Point - House of Alphonse de Lamartine
Saint-Point, castle of the twelfth and fourteenth centuries, classified as Historical Monuments and House of Illustres, became from 1820 the family home of the poet and politician Alphonse de Lamartine.
The visit to the Château de Saint-Point includes Alphonse de Lamartine’s bedroom and work room, furnished as they were at the time, the 18th century dining room, his secretary’s office and the Lamartine Museum. Located in the large living room on the ground floor, it gathers the personal objects and memories of the poet, preserved by his niece, Valentine de Cessiat.
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, two additional pieces will be added to the guided tour: the Gothic Revival Room and Marianne de Lamartine’s former bedroom, which are classified as Historic Monuments.
The visit may end with a free visit of the orchard, the vegetable garden, the old greenhouse as well as the family vault of the poet, which he had built when his mother died. It is located on the edge of the castle, next to the Romanesque church of Saint-Point, in which there are two paintings painted by Marianne de Lamartine.
Visiting departures are planned at 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm and 5 pm.
