Guided tour of the village of Thenissey
The village has two castles located face to face in the same area, surrounded by water moats dug in the eighteenth. The village church, dedicated to Saint-Léger, was built in the 11th-12th century and rebuilt in the 14th century. It is overlooked by a massive Romanesque bell tower in tuff but it is especially necessary to discover the murals (rediscovered in the 1980s during restorations ). On the side of the church, in the garden, is installed the statue of a Virgin in Majesty and her Child.
The beautiful renovated XIXth wash house with three arcades is just a stone’s throw away, as is the former XIXth School Town Hall. A little further down, on the central square, we notice a farm with a beautiful barn with three arcades and a dovecote. During the guided tour by a passionate about the history of the village, you will discover the houses that tell the history of the inhabitants over the centuries.
