Château-fort de Trévoux

The elements of the fortified castle of Trévoux reached until us were built in the course of the XIVth century. By 1300: construction of the octagonal tower (chief tour(tower,ballot), or donjon, of the fortified castle) and north and south curtains; by 1360: addition of two tours(towers,ballots) and of the western wall separating the High Court of Justice of the farmyard today missing. A new building(ship), the building(ship) of main building is leant against the western wall. We arrange little information concerning the farmyard which seems to have been in ruin and to have been fast abandoned(given up), from the end of the XVth century. However, it is possible that the square tower is the built first one(night), as insulated fortification, then connected(bound) with the octagonal tower built secondly. Let us underline the architectural wealth of the stone chief tower, of size octagonal and bichrome, entirely built. She(It) measured 28m at origin but had amputated two floors in Revolution. She(It) culminates in 16m of height today and offers an incomparable point of view on all valley of the Saône, the Alps and Beaujolais.
