Today, the «taillandiers» of Livron and the storyteller will revive the taillanderie: the workshop, refurbished a year ago will be filled with the sound of hammers tapping on the anvil and the heat and steam released from the molten metal parts, because the forge will be «enlightened», all these sensory perceptions generated by the gestures and therefore the «know-how» of the blacksmiths, this «know-how» concretized by the manipulation of many tools and transmitted from generation to generation, is an intangible and living heritage that we must pass on to future generations. To add poetry and perhaps mystery to the powerful gestures of men who transform matter, a storyteller will accompany us during this visit.

La Taillanderie de Dinetard

The taillanderie of Dinetard, in Livron-sur-Drôme, is one of the many workshops created in the 18th century, over the water canals. This old forge remained in the state where the last blacksmith left it in 1971; various agricultural instruments were essentially forged: spades, pickaxes, shares, serpes, false axes.... This workshop is distinguished by the number of impellers (3 of them) that made it possible to operate the swifts (or hammers) still visible inside, or forge bellows. Exceptional visits during the JEP.
