Screening of a film about the trades of yesteryear in the presence of the director
A lot of humor, a lot of suffering, so goes the life of Renée, 72, who, from the age of eight, keeps the cows. The husband smoked, drank and ran the skirts, then, outside! It is better to remain alone than to be badly accompanied.
The earth, her land, she knows it well. She has only 4 ha, just for her 8 cows, 80 chickens and thirty geese, not counting ducks, rabbits, 3 dogs etc. In the evening, after lighting the fireplace, she takes out the spinning wheel and weaves the wool or knitting a sweater.
With her 3000 m2 of vines, Renée knows what she is talking about, because she prunes and treats the vines. The harvest meal ends late at night to the sound of the accordion.
No need for a tractor, she plows with her cows. For hay, she “makes” the tank and backs up without any maneuvering the hitch in the barn.
In the evening she is a little tired, she has brought three floats of hay… Tomorrow it will be better…
Under the weight of the yoke, the wear of his body begins to be felt, but even in fatigue and pain, a smile bursts out like a ray of sunshine and erases the surrounding clouds.
Her mother trained her. From sunrise to sunset, every day, in every weather, she takes the sleeve. This is the harsh condition of the PEASANT WOMAN.

Screening at 4 p.m. Alain Fournier Room in the presence of the director. Free admission. Organized by the municipality of Meaulne-Vitray. Debate and Glass of Friendship at the end of the performance.
