The Ciné-journal rediscovered, the film
Between 1926 and 1939, the cinematheque was filmed for the municipality, a local news newspaper, in 35mm silent film: a real treasure of today’s collections. In November 2014, the CNC announced the digitization of this fund of more than 20,000 metres of film, as part of the National Film Heritage Commission. At the end of this exhaustive digitization, the team of the cinematheque was able to present again the Ciné-journal stéphanois restored in 2 K by its care, in its entirety and contextualized by reading the articles of the written press of the time. As part of the centenary of the Cinémathèque, Anaelle Chevalier and Vincent Sabot who had carried out this restoration, have made a creative documentary, which testifies to the economic vitality, social, political and industrial of the city of the thirties but also the trauma of its shift into the Second World War.
