Le Chai
Place Saint-Pierre, 63270 Vic le Comte
- Puy-de-Dôme
- Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
Built in 1790, in the midst of the French Revolution, this building plays a leading role in the wine-making process. Made in arkose, closed and entirely vaulted, it is here that the whole winemaking process took place, from the arrival of the grape harvest to its bottling. There are 5 cellars similar to this one in the town of Vic-le-Comte, with an identical formwork. Measuring 200 m2 per plateau and comprising three floors, including a cellar, as well as a small inner courtyard, this place is bearer of the wine and geological history of the territory.
Today, the Chai is a cultural and heritage site that hosts exhibitions and live shows.
