Friends of the Arts Exhibition
Discover the world of Eleni Pattakou, Greek artist, in a unique scenography in the heart of the Chapel of Saint Pancrace in Bans. Eleni Pattakou, born in 1963, is an artist from Réthymno in Crete who has lived in France since 1996. Graduated in Arts at the Faculty of Philosophy in Athens, she continued her studies as soon as she arrived in France at the School of Fine Arts in Lyon. This artist works with painting, engraving and drawing, always in a figurative form. Eleni Pattakou draws her inspiration from her country of origin, Greece, through the study of myths, words, living animals or sacrificial objects. The Greece she left almost 30 years ago, but where she returns regularly, marks her works with motifs, colors and techniques strong in symbols. The exhibition she proposes is built around the images that haunt her.
"This country is as hard as silence It serves against its breast its burning slabs, It squeezes in the light its vineyards and its orphan olives It clenches its teeth. There is no water. Only light.
From the depths rises this stream that ignores the prayers This wind with the veins of resin and the lungs of sage blows high.
With his first breath He will seize the orange trees of remembrance"
