The Prima Vista Quartet was founded in 1997 by Baudime Jam and Elzbieta Gladys. The Prima Vista Quartet has performed at numerous festivals and on several stages in France, England, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Poland, Russia, Cyprus, the United States and Africa. He made his debut in China as part of the prestigious Croisements festival during a tour in May 2015. His militant commitment to the service of Auvergne composers of yesterday and today (George Onslow, Antoine Lhoyer, Henri Thévenin, Daniel Meier, Baudime Jam) and their inscription in the repertoire, in connection with musicological research and pedagogy, is also one of the major axes of its artistic activity: the combination of its geographical influence and this unprecedented heritage dissemination work also make the Prima Vista Quartet a musical ambassador of its region of origin.

The young names of Beethoven and Schubert make a place for themselves in the salons, while those of Mozart and Haydn are already admitted to the pantheon of classics. Two of their quartets will be on the program for this evening. But it was soon forgotten that another composer was regularly featured in Viennese concerts: George Onslow, the Anglo-Auvergne musician, was, throughout his career, one of the favorite choices of instrumentalists, music lovers, and publishers. The oblivion in which he subsequently fell obscures the popularity of his work, which was played in its entirety in all the capitals of Europe, and which earned him the nickname “French Beethoven”. What we also forgot is that Onslow was very attached to the Auvergne and that he testified to it even in his music: the quartet that we will hear tonight contains a real mountain girl who comes from Tauves. No one before Onslow had heard Auvergne folklore on such a prestigious stage as that of the Austrian capital: no one has done it since."
