About the location

Archives & Patrimoine de Valence Romans Agglo - Site de Valence
26 place Latour-Maubourg 26000 Valence
  • Drôme
  • Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
With more than 6 linear km of documents and works, the Archives & Heritage of Valencia Romans Agglo is the place par excellence of conservation and enhancement of the written heritage of the agglomeration. They bring together the resources of the three communities of Romans, Valence and Valence Romans Agglo. Present on the territory on two sites, they are closest to the inhabitants.
They cover local history from the 14th century to the present day. Thanks to the wealth and diversity of resources, this local history, that of people, institutions or constructions, is traced: through administrative archives from (inter)communal services or private archives (companies, associations, individuals, etc.); through periodicals or the local fund; through rare and precious books such as illuminated manuscripts or incunabula.
The site of Valencia takes place in a former cavalry barracks of the 19th century, rehabilitated as a cultural center.
