The correspondence between 1946 and 1959 between Albert Camus and René Char is the rare testimony of a deep friendship between two major artists and intellectuals of the 20th century. Engaged in the Resistance under the name of Captain Alexandre, it is there that René Char reads The Stranger of Albert Camus. A few years later, Albert Camus, who directed the Espoir collection at Gallimard, published Les Feuillets d'Hypnos, written by René Char during the war. It is then that their friendship is born and that this correspondence begins. 184 letters, banknotes and postcards in which these two great writers express their admiration for each other and their deep attachment to Provence.
