Visit of the castle of Dobert
Set in a loop of Vègre, the castle of Dobert was built in the middle of the eighteenth century on the site of a small fief of the late Middle Ages.
A pleasure castle surrounded by moats of running water, it has been inhabited by the same family since the end of the 15th century. Over the generations, the inhabitants of this place have been sailors, dragons and especially agronomists, always anxious to improve and facilitate the work of the earth: witness the aqueduct at the end of the park, and a monumental barn decorated with the mention «Honor to the farmer».
The park «in English», or picturesque garden, was designed the day after the Revolution by the Marquise de Bastard; an alley of lindens, the waterfall on the river, the orangery or a small dovecote complete, As J.-R. Pesche wrote in the dictionary of the Sarthe in 1836, “the enjoyment of this charming dwelling that more than one German prince might envy.”
In Dobert you are welcomed as a family. A little surprise is reserved for children.
