Nestled in the heart of a village of character, the Département de la Vendée invites you to discover the Abbey Saint-Vincent de Nieul sur l'Autise, one of the rare complete monastic ensembles of Bas-Poitou. A perfect example of the rigour of monastic life at the time, the 12th century cloister is today the only fully preserved Romanesque cloister in western France.

Of this prestigious ensemble still remain: a church of the Poitevin type, which is distinguished by a sober nave, with marked verticality, and a very ornate facade (historical capitals, carved panels); around the well-preserved Romanesque cloister, With semicircular bays supported by columns, one also notices a Romanesque portal with three volts very worked, opening formerly on the refectory, today disappeared.
