Every year, the Château de Baugé partners with the Museum of Art and History to create an original and playful exhibition for free admission.
In 2022, a new enigma at the heart of the museum’s ethnographic collections: on her wedding day, June 9, 1905, Rosa Buenaventura discovers that the tailor who made her dress has disappeared. The day before, the tailor gave the key to his shop to one of the local merchants. To find the latter and save Rosa’s wedding, visitors will be able to help themselves with objects from old Angevin shops of the early twentieth century: signs of the sabotier, sewing machines of the tailor, pots to pharmacy, but also old photos of stores ... Observation, puzzles, research and reflection in the shops of Baugé de la Belle Epoque!
As every year, a contemporary artist is invited to present his works in connection with the exhibition. In 2022, Manon Tricoire and her textile creations will take place in the tailor’s workshop.

Château de Baugé

In the walled enclosure of a castle with a primitive motte, a residential dwelling is rebuilt in several phases between 1430 and 1455 by Yolande d'Aragon, then by his son René d'Anjou, known as «King René». Used by the Governors of the city between XVI° and XVIII°, it is then deeply reworked inside for administrative use. The façade clearly displays the characteristics of a 15th-century boathouse: an irregular layout, passing dormers with hooks at the roof level, an octagonal tower projecting on the façade, and mullioned bays framed with tuffeau; disappearance of any military element in the architecture.
