Exhibition: «From castles to presses, the unveiled heritage of the Lassay country»
The exhibition highlights the results of the cultural heritage inventory of the municipalities of Rennes-en-Grenouilles, Thuboeuf, Saint-Julien-du-Terroux, Le Housseau-Brétignolles, Sainte-Marie-du-Bois and Lassay-les-Châteaux, in the north of the Mayenne department. This inventory conducted in partnership between the Pays-de-la-Loire Region and the Département de la Mayenne was interested in the territory that will eventually expand the perimeter of the Pays d'Art et d'Histoire Coëvrons-Mayenne. Located on the border between Maine and Normandy, the former canton of Lassay is one of the northernmost territories of the department of Mayenne and a formidable heritage conservatory. This wealth and diversity of heritage are illustrated in the exhibition through a film space presenting the territory and five major themes: manors and castles, rural architecture, urban habitat, religious heritage, and agricultural and craft activities. Alongside the magnificent photographs and maps from the inventory operation, a model of the city of Lassay and original documents -paintings from museums in France and private collections, documents from the National or Departmental Archives, artillery pieces and movable objects...- will embody the themes of the exhibition. In each section, a business focus will aim to familiarize the public with the means and tools of research. Finally, a video capsule will immerse the visitor in the heart of the studied territory thanks to images of landscapes and sites filmed with a drone.
