Attend the nocturnal torchlight tour organised by the tourist office. The bastide will be discovered by the light of the torches and candles that will be placed on the visit route. For young and old, this visit is suitable for all audiences wishing to know more about the medieval bastide.

Listed among the "Most Beautiful Villages of France", the Bastide de Monpazier is considered as the most typical example of the bastides of the Southwest. It remains the best preserved in the Périgord. Founded in 1284 on the initiative of Edward I in association with Pierre de Gontaut, seigneur of Biron, it was only under Charles V (King of France from 1366 to 1380) that it became definitively French. Seven hundred years old, the Bastide de Monpazier has retained its original character despite the vicissitudes of time, the misdeeds of the Hundred Years War and those of the wars of religion.
